DIY Appliqued Bath Towels:  My husband and I just redid our bathroom so I thought it would be a good idea to do some DIY appliqued bath towels to give the room a little me.  As I made them I decided to do this super simple tutorial that anyone can do.  It doesn’t take a lot of time or sewing experience  and its the perfect way to put some of yourself into your home decor.  I hope you all try this out and share some of your projects here on Sew Very Crafty. What will Need

Step 1: DIY Applique Bath Towels

Locate a font and size that you would like to use on your towels.  Of course you do not need to use a letter you could use a character or words, any image that fits your decor. I chose a random font for my last name Callaghan which is “C”, that I found on the internet and sized it to be three different sizes because I was appliqueing bath towels, hand towels, and wash cloths.

Step 2: DIY Applique Bath Towels

Take your Letter and trace it onto tracing paper. Then turn the letter so it is facing the wrong way and trace onto the Pellon Wonder Under Fusible Web so that the paper side is up.  Trace the reversed letter onto the Wonder Under paper.  If you are not familiar with Wonder Under or one of the similar fusible web products, It is very easy to use.   One side has a paper backing and the other has a fusible web like glue substance.  You can trace any image you like on the paper side and transfer it to any fabric you like.  Just remember that your image must be reversed in order for it to appear correctly when transferred.  Once you have traced your reverse image onto the paper side of the Wonder Under you will fuse it to the wrong side of the fabric you want to use fro the applique.  In my case I used a paisley fabric that matched my bathroom colors.

Then remove the paper and position the applique onto your project and fuse with a hot iron. This completes the creation of the applique.

Step 3: DIY Applique Bath Towels

Once the applique has been fused to the towels, sew around the perimeter of the applique using either a zig-zag stitch or a satin stitch.  I chose to use a small stain stitch to fully sew on my applique.  I did my machine but you could do it by hand.
