Three Dimensional Stars
I remember making these 3D stars as a child and thought I would recreate them for you here. You can use cereal boxes or craft paper to make these versatile stars. If you choose to upcycle cereal boxes you will also need to paint them. Choose a Christmas theme or red, white and blue for the 4th of July. These stars make great decorations for any occasion. For my stars, I chose to use 12″ x 12″ craft paper because I had no empty cereal boxes so there was no need to paint them. Give these stars a try. I know that you will love them for your holiday decorations.
What you will Need:
- Pattern
- Decorative craft paper, cereal boxes or other cardboard
- Pencil
- Scissors
- Ruler
- Glue
- Paint (optional)
Step 1: Three Dimensional Stars
Print out the pattern and trace it to the paper or cardboard. Cut out the star. You can reduce or enlarge the pattern for different sizes of stars.
Step 2: Three Dimensional Stars
Draw lines from each point to the opposing side using a ruler to make them nice and straight.
Step 3: Three Dimensional Stars
Using your scissors, score along each of the lines using a ruler.
Step 4: Three Dimensional Stars
Fold the star along the score lines to give the star a 3D look.
Step 5: Three Dimensional Stars
Glue two of the stars together for an all around three dimensional look or just keep them separate. I chose to glue mine together.
Step 6: Three Dimensional Stars
Once you have glued the stars together, paint them in the colors of your choice if you are not using decorative craft paper. Once the paint has dried, your three dimensional stars are finished. Prop them on your mantle or add some string to make terrific Christmas ornaments.
